Deck Staining

Staining your deck is a step that enhances the wood’s natural beauty and protects it from the elements. After we have talked with you to understand your needs and concerns our professional painters who are licensed and insured start by thoroughly inspecting the deck to identify any damaged or loose boards that may need replacement. The deck is cleared of any furniture, as protecting your home and your belongings is our top priority. We thoroughly clean the surface to remove dirt, mold, mildew, and old stains using specialized cleaners and a gentle pressure wash if necessary. This ensures the surface is free of debris and able to absorb the stain evenly. After cleaning, the deck is allowed to dry completely, which is essential for proper stain adhesion. If necessary, sanding is performed to smooth out rough patches, splintered areas, or any peeling finishes, leaving a flawless surface ready to receive the stain.

Once the deck is prepped, our licensed painters apply high-quality Sherwin Williams stain, chosen specifically for its durability, color retention, and ability to protect the wood from UV damage and moisture. During the application process we use hand-brushes or rollers to transfer the stain onto the railings, spindles, and other detailed areas is spraying is not practical or possible. For larger deck surfaces, painters may use specialized tools like pads or sprayers, depending on the situation, following up with back-brushing to achieve an even finish without streaks or puddling. Typically, two coats of stain are applied, allowing ample drying time between each layer to build up a rich, long-lasting color. Throughout the process, great care is taken to protect surrounding landscaping and structures, ensuring that no stain overspray or drips occur. After staining, the painters conduct a final walkthrough to inspect their work, making sure the deck looks pristine and is fully protected against the elements.
